Dracula and Transylvania tour in Romania with fixed departures

Day 1 -  BUCHAREST - SNAGOV - CURTEA DE ARGES
Arrival in Bucharest. Departure to Snagov with its beautiful 16 km long lake - in the centre of the lake is an island where is located the Snagov monastery, built in 1519. Trip by boat to the monastery and visit the tomb of Vlad Dracula, sitting in the front of the church altar. After drive further to Curtea de Arges, the former second capital of Wallachia, rebuilt in the 14th C. Sightseeing of the Princely Church with fine frescoes, the Episcopal Church (the monastery) which is a recreation of the original built in 16th C. and Olari Church. Overnight in Curtea de Arges.
 
Day 2 -  CURTEA DE ARGES - POENARI CASTLE - BRAN CASTLE - BRASOV
In the morning visit of Poenari Castle ruins, standing on a cliff, which is known as the real castle of Dracula (Vlad Tepes). Continue to Bran and entrance to Bran Castle, also called Dracula's Castle, however this is disputed point among historians. Visit inside the Village museum of Bran and the Ancient Customs House Museum. Drive to Brasov - one of the most important cities from Romania and a very powerful medieval citadel during the history. Short tour of the magic medieval center of Brasov including Council Square, Black Church, White and Black Towers, Weavers Bastion and Ecaterinas Gate. Overnight in Brasov.

Day 3 -  BRASOV - SINAIA - PREJMER - RASNOV - SIGHISOARA
Drive to Sinaia, the mountain resort and visit the Peles Castle, former summer residence of the kings of Romania. Nowadays the Castle is one of the most important museums in Transylvania where one can admire furniture and ornamental objects, carpets, tapestry, sculptures, paintings, collections of weapons from the 15th  - 19th C. Visit of the Prejmer Fortified Church, one of the best preserved of its kind in Eastern Europe. Stop at Rasnov and visit the Old citadel and the fortress, built in 1331,which houses nowadays an interesting museum. Continue to Sighisoara, the birthplace of Vlad Tepes.Overnight in Sighisoara.

Day 4 -  SIGHISOARA - BISTRITA - PIATRA FANTANELE (BORGO PASS)
Sightseeing of the medieval town of Sighisoara and fortress including the famous Clock Tower, the History Museum and the Torture Room, the Church on the Hill, the Scholars Stairs, the Monastery Church and the towers of the citadel. Drive to the famous Borgo Pass via Targu Mures. On the way panoramic tour in Bistrita, where Bram Stoker based the setting for his novel "Dracula". Borgo Pass is the border between Transylvania and Bucovina, with fantastic landscapes. The Hotel Castel Dracula in Piatra Fantanele is situated on a 1116m altitude with a fantastic view of the Carpathian mountains and dates from 1983, built in the style of a medieval mansion, it was created to bring alive an authentic Dracula atmosphere. Overnight.
 
Day 5-  PIATRA FANTANELE - BISTRITA - MEDIAS - SIBIU
Pass through Bistrita and Targu-Mures, one of the great Magyar cities of Transylvania, with the famous Teleki - Bolyai Library with 40,000 volumes. Stop at Medias, old medieval town dating from 15th C. Visit the Margareth Cathedral, included in UNESCO Heritages List and its famous Trompets Tower. Arrival in Sibiu - one of the most important fortified towns in Transylvania. Sightseeing of the Old Town with the Big Square, the Small Square, the Ursuline Church, the Franciscan Church, the staircase Tower, the Tanners Tower, the Lier’s Bridge , the House of the Butcher’s Guild and the amazing Bruckenthal Museum. Overnight in Sibiu.
 
Day 6 -  SIBIU - BUCHAREST

Option 1 – Drive to Bucharest airport for departure flight.
Option 2 – Continue the tour with overnight in Bucharest.
Possibility to extend the tour with program in Bulgaria.
