11-days tour including the Black Sea coast

Day 01– Arrival in Sofia. Transfer to the hotel. Dinner and overnight at 4-star hotel.

Day 02 - Departure to Rila Monastery - visit of the largest and one of the oldest Bulgarian monasteries (10 th C.), included in the UNESCO World Heritage List with medieval defence tower from the 14 th C. and fine frescoes. Drive to Sandanski – famous spa resort with wonderful climatic conditions. Dinner and overnight at 4-star hotel in Sandanski.

Day 03 – A.M. – Possibility for using the spa center with its outdoor and indoor swimming pools with mineral water. Trip to Melnik – museum town, scenically located at the foothills of sandstone pyramids, famous for its ancient architecture and red wine. Visit of the Kopdopulova house and Rozhen monastery. Wine tasting of the famous local red wines. Drive to Bansko – winter resort in Pirin mountain. Dinner with local specialities in typical Bulgarian tavern. Overnight at 4-star hotel in Bansko.

Day 04 – Time for enjoying the atmosphere of the picturesque small town with typical old houses from the National Revival period. Visit of the Holly Trinity church (1832) and the ethnographic exhibition-bazar of traditional crafts. Departure to Plovdiv across the magnificent nature of the Rhodopes mountain. On the way visit of Dobarsko village and its St.st.Thereon and Theodore church (1614) – UNESCO protected monument of culture with unique mural painting featuring Jesus Christ in a rocket. Dinner and overnight at 4-star hotel in Plovdiv.

Day 05 - Sightseeing of the old part of the town with beautiful old houses from the Bulgarian Revival period (18 th – 19 th C.). Entrance to the St. Konstantin and Elena church and to the Roman Theatre. Departure to Kazanlak – capital of the Rose valley. Visit to the Thracian Tomb – included in the UNESCO List . Drive to Burgas – second biggest town at the Black sea coast. Dinner and overnight at 4-star hotel. 

Day 06 - Drive along the coast to the town of Nessebar picturesquely situated on a small peninsula with beautiful old houses and ruins of medieval churches also a monument of the UNESCO World heritage list.Lunch at local restaurant – fish menu. Departure to Varna the largest town at the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Visit to the History museum and the Roman Baths. Dinner and overnight at 4-star hotel in Varna.

Day 07 – Drive to the town of Shumen . En route visit to Madara Horseman- relief on the rocks (9 th.c) one of the Bulgarian monuments included in the UNESCO World heritage list. Lunch. Visit to the town of Preslav – museum and ruins of the capital town of the Bulgarian First Kingdom (7 th-10 th c.). Some of the most precious exhibits in the museum are the original gold treasure (10 th c) and one of the oldest ceramic icons (9 th c). Dinner and overnight at 4-star hotel in Shumen.

Day 08 – Drive to Veliko Tarnovo. Sightseeing with entrance to the Tzarevets hill– capital of the Second Bulgarian Kingdom (12 th-14 th C.), picturesquely situated on the hills at the banks of the meandering river Jantra and of Arbanassi village – architectural reserve and museum town with houses and churches from 17 th –19 th C. with entrance to the Jesus Christ’s Nativity Church which interior is covered in frescos depicting 2000 scenes and to Konstanzalieva house. Dinnet and overnight at 4-star hotel.

Day 09 – Drive to the town of Gabrovo – famous trade center in the 19 th C. Walking tour. Visit of the Bozhentsi village – museum town and architectural reserve. Entrance to the Ethnographic outdoor museum Etara with its 18 th -19 th C. crafts. Drive to the town of Pleven. Dinner and overnight at 3-star hotel.

Day 10 – Sightseeing of Pleven with Pleven Epopee Panorama 1877, Historic museum and Gallery “ Svetlin Rusev” ( rich exhibition of Bulgarian and foreign painters). Drive to Sofia. Dinner with Bulgarian specialties and folklore show at a folk style restaurant located in the suburbs of Sofia. Overnight in Sofia.

Day 11 – Sightseeing of Sofia with visit to Al. Nevski Cathedral, St. Sofia Church, Russian Church, Ruins of Serdica, St. George Rotunda (4 th C. AD). Transfer to the airport. Departure.
